Another Inmate Attempts Suicide at the Bexar County Jail
BCSO Inmate Attempts to Hang Himself
An inmate at the Bexar County Jail, attempted to hang himself on Tuesday. The inmate was found by a deputy and was cut down. Medical staff was immediately called and the inmate was able to respond to them. The 42-year old unidentified inmate was taken to University Hospital to ensure there were no internal injuries. The Bexar County Adult Detention Center has had an on-going problem with deaths and attempted suicides under the Salazar administration. This attempts marks the third one in a little over a month.
As usual, Sheriff Salazar has gone with inefficiency, during a time when his agency is extremely shortstaffed, and decided to have three different sections of his agency do independent investigations on this incident. According to KSAT 12, “BCSO Internal Affairs, Public Integrity and the Criminal Investigations Division will investigate the attempted suicide incident.”
Time for a change in how the BCSO approaches it’s inmate healthcare program.
