Bexar County Detective Arrested for DWI

(TX) – On July 1, a San Antonio police officer observed a vehicle doing 20 miles an hour over the limit. The driver was “failing to maintain a single lane and changing lanes improperly.” The SAPD officer turned on his lights, but the driver ignored them, running red lights to evade arrest. A helicopter was called in to help track the vehicle. The driver finally stopped and was discovered to be Detective Ernesto Garza, with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Garza is an 8-year veteran assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) which is in the law enforcement tier. According to Sheriff Salazar,
“He investigates crimes for a living, and he, more than anybody, should really know the ramifications of his behavior. It’s inexcusable.”
Detective Ernesto Garza would not take a field sobriety test, forcing law enforcement to get a blood draw warrant. Detective Garza “was charged with a DWI and for Evading Arrest Vehicle.”
