Jailer Arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Acts
(CA) – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is facing its second arrest, in three months, of an officer for sexual crimes against children. Deputy Jeremie Russell Cox, a 25-year veteran with the department, was arrested on Friday, September 17. Cox is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a minor less than 14 years old, but more than 10 years old.
The criminal investigation was started after the male victim came forward and reported the sexual assaults. The investigation lead to criminal charges being filed. Cox was arrested by members of the Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigation Division.
According to the press release from the Sheriff’s Department,
The investigation began after a male victim reported Cox sexually abused him during the victim’s youth. Cox was arrested and booked in at the Central Detention Center where he remains in custody on $750,000 bail.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus said, “It is extremely disturbing when a member of this Department behaves in a manner that contradicts what we stand for as a law enforcement agency. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will ensure this case is investigated completely and thoroughly.”
None of the crimes committed by Cox occurred during the course of his duties as a deputy sheriff. Jeremie Cox is no longer employed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Cox was a 25-year veteran with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. His career had been spent performing the duties of a jailer. There are three major facilities that fall under the Sheriff’s Office. Cox had been assigned to the Morongo Basin jail for “nearly 16 years.”
Deputy Cox is facing felony charges related to continuous sexual abuse, oral copulation, and lewd and lascivious acts. All charges are for acts against a minor. Jeremie Russell Cox has been terminated from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
Sergeant Arrested on 16 Felony Charges
(CA) – The previous individual to be arrested for sex crimes against children was Sergeant Marc Goodwin. The 16-year veteran was arrested by the Fontana Police Department, but was a sergeant at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
According to LawandCrime.com,
Marc Goodwin, 43, faces one count of possession or control of child pornography, one count of possession or control of sadomasochistic child pornography, and 14 counts of exhibiting of publishing material depicting child sexual content.
Per the press release from the Fontana Police Department,
The investigation was initiated in response to a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicating Goodwin had electronically transmitted an image containing possible child pornography.
