Murder-Suicide Shocks NYPD
(NY) – Sean Armstead, an 11 year veteran with the NYPD, suspected his wife, Alexandra Vandeheyden, was cheating on him. The 35-year old woman owned a dog walking business and was having an affair with 20-year old Edward Wilkins, one of her employees.
On Sunday, Armstead called in sick and attempted to track down the couple. Mrs. Vandeheeyden left her car on the side of the road, fearing that her husband suspected the affair. Wilkins picked her up and from there they went to a hotel. “The cheating couple spent time in a La Quinta Inn room before having dinner and then popping in to a Dave & Busters sports bar, according to the New York Post.”
After dinner the couple went back to the hotel. Later in the evening Vandeheyden thought it would be safe to get her car because her husband would be at work. Details get sketchy, but it appears Vandeheyden got in her car, then Armstead showed himself and chased Wilkins. Armstead rammed his vehicle into Wilkins’ car in a Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot. Wilkins jumped out of his vehicle and tried to run. Armstead shot at him at least 12 times. Once Armstead confirmed Wilkins was dead, he killed himself, his body falling on top of Wilkens.
Alexandra Vandeheyden arrived moments after the shooting. She was not injured.
