The Murder of Ahmaud Arbery

On Wednesday, a Grand Jury officially indicted all three men, Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael and William R. Bryan in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. The three men had previously been arrested for murder but it is necessary for a Grand Jury to indict them so they could be tried. An indictment is basically saying there is enough evidence to go forward with a trial. Had the Grand Jury not indicted them, which is called No Bill, the case would have been dismissed and the three men would have been released.

The Disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen

The family of Vanessa Guillen has asked Senator Ted Cruz’s office to open a congressional investigation into missing Fort Hood soldier, Vanessa Guillen. This comes after stonewalling by the U.S. Army regarding the investigation of Pfc. Guillen. The Guillen family, along with their attorney, met with military personnel but that personnel would not give them a timeline of Pfc. Guillen’s last known whereabouts. Though military personnel have now said they suspect foul play, they brushed off as a mistake, the fact that Pfc. Guillen was listed as being there at multiple check-ins, when she couldn’t have been.

While the Guillen family was trying to get the military to take the disappearance of Vanessa Guillen seriously, the remains of Pvt. Greg Morales were found in a field. Pvt. Morales, also stationed at Fort Hood, went missing in August of 2019, just a couple of days before he was going to be discharged. The military now suspects foul play but still has Pvt. Morales listed as a deserter.
