06/06/2018 – Deputy Arrested for Aggravated Assault
Bexar County Deputy Andrew McDermott, who was already on administrative leave due to prior infractions, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. McDermott asked his estranged wife if he could stay at their house for the night. She allowed him to stay. At some point there was an argument over text messages she was getting. McDermott first tried to take the cell phone away from her. According to Sheriff Salazar, McDermott attempted to cut the pajama pocket of his estranged wife to get to the cell phone. During the struggle he cut her arm with the knife. McDermott left before police arrived but a deputy recognized his car and arrested him.
McDermott was on administrative leave for six excessive use of force allegations.
